Scott Kerr is a self-taught Contemporary Abstract Artist. Kerr was first exposed to the art world by his father when he was a boy, and through the emotions that art evoked in him even at a young age, he began to create. Not always adapting to the traditional school setting, it was challenging for him to sit in a basic art class, and for years Kerr was unable to understand his unique, independent style. As an adult, he first followed a different path, working with his father to build and paint furniture. Around the age of 40, Scott decided to return to his childhood passion for art. He soon realized that applying Venetian plaster—a mix of plaster, marble powder, and acrylic paint—to wooden “canvases” was well-suited to creating appealing works of art, usually on a large scale. These works are also "transitional” by nature, meaning they can be combined with antique or modern settings equally well. After selling out his first art show, Scott Kerr has continued to show pieces across the United States as his work grows in popularity throughout the country. Through his creativity and mixed media materials, he leads his audience to use their imagination and experiences to connect with his work.
